Tom Bird Named Women's Basketball Director of Operations

FARGO, N.D.--Tom Bird has been named women's basketball director of operations at North Dakota State University. NDSU head women's basketball coach, Carolyn DeHoff made the announcement today and said Bird will join the staff July 29.

Bird served as the assistant video coordinator for the University of Florida women's basketball program last year. Among his duties were organizing film exchange for all-conference opponents, and also creating a virtual playbook of all practices and games, offense and defensive plays.

"We had a nice pool of candidates with different skill sets for this position. Tom's time spent last year under Amanda Butler at Florida as their assistant video coordinator sparked the interest of our staff," said DeHoff, who is preparing for her sixth season at North Dakota State.

"Through the process of getting to know Tom we were encouraged by the pieces he could bring our staff from both an administration and video coordinating position."

Prior to working at the University of Florida, Bird was the assistant women's basketball coach at Thomas College in Waterville, Maine, in 2010-11. He graduated from Thomas College in May 2012 with a bachelor's degree in sport management. His resume includes serving as men's post graduate basketball assistant coach at Lee Academy Prep School (2008-10), and varsity boys basketball assistant and the girls and boys varsity tennis head coach at Lee Academy (2007-08, 2010).
