FARGO, N.D. – The North Dakota State distance medley relay team of Jenny Guibert, Morgan Milbrath, Amy Andrushko and Maddie Van Beek turned in the second-fastest time in NDSU history and the 16th-fastest time in the NCAA this season to cap the first day of the Thundering Herd Classic on Friday evening.
 
The Bison quartet clocked 11:35.83 to win the distance medley relay, coming within one second of the school record of 11:35.06 run in 2009 by Laura Hermanson, Heather Zander, Brittany Gigstead and Amy Jo Reuter.
 
Once converted for track size, NDSU's time stands at 11:28.45 on the NCAA performance list, which ranks 16th in the nation based on times entering this weekend.
 
Sophomore Katelyn Weimerskirch set a new personal-best by 20 inches in the weight throw, posting a mark of 62-01.75 (18.94m). She now ranks second all-time at NDSU behind teammate Emily Lesser and 50th in the NCAA this season.
 
Bison junior Lexy Boschee claimed the pentathlon title with 3,583 points to stand at No. 7 in NDSU history. The Kalispell, Mont., native posted personal-best performances in three of the five events, including a time of 9.01 seconds in the 60m hurdles.
 
Junior Melissa Kitching won the 600m in 1:34.39 to rank 10th in NDSU history in the event. Senior Ashlynn Simon was second in 1:36.01, and freshman Sierra Link took third in 1:36.24.
 
NDSU's Deidre Hahn captured the 200m title in an indoor personal-best time of 25.38 seconds.
 
In the weight throw, Lesser placed third at 60-08.50 (18.50m) and redshirt freshman Courtney Pasiowitz was fourth at 58-07.25 (17.86m).
 
NDSU freshman Amanda Levin was the runner-up in the pentathlon with 3,457 points. Levin recorded a mark of 18-06.00 (5.64m) in her long jump debut and cleared a personal-best of 5-04.25 (1.63m) in the high jump.
 
The Thundering Herd Classic resumes at 10:30 a.m. tomorrow inside the Shelly Ellig Indoor Track & Field Facility.
