
Eight Straight: Bison Women Post Record Point Total for Summit League Championship

MACOMB, Ill. – The North Dakota State women's track & field team totaled a record 282 points on the way to its eighth consecutive Summit League outdoor title on Friday afternoon at Hanson Field. The Bison women won by a 73-point margin over second-place South Dakota.
NDSU has now won 16 straight Summit League team championships – eight indoor and eight outdoor – since joining the conference prior to the 2008 season.
Senior Maddie Van Beek was named the Championships Track MVP after earning three runner-up finishes in the distance events. Senior thrower Emily Lesser earned the Championships Field MVP after a trio of top-three finishes. Both scored 24 team points for the Bison over the course of the meet.
The Bison women captured six more individual titles on the final day.
Erin Teschuk added a championship in the 1500m to go along with her 3,000m steeplechase title from the night before, and Van Beek once again earned a runner-up finish for the Bison. Teschuk ran a meet record 4:18.60 for the win & Van Beek recorded a lifetime best 4:20.98.
Katelyn Weimerskirch defended her league title in the discus with a throw of 163-1 (49.72m), winning her second championship as only a sophomore.
Sophomore Morgan Milbrath ran a personal-best 53.97 to take first place in the 400m dash. Amy Andrushko also clocked a lifetime best for the win the 800m, crossing the line in 2:08.18 for her first individual championship.
Junior Melissa Kitching won the 400m hurdles in 59.22, and Ashley Heinze was fourth in 1:01.47.
Since joining The Summit League, the Bison women have won every league outdoor 4x400m title, and that streak lived on. Alexis Woods, Kitching, Heinze and Milbrath won in 3:42.38.
Van Beek capped her week with a third runner-up finish in the meet, taking second in the 5,000m in 16:37.65.
NDSU had multiple placewinners in multiple events. Woods (55.81) and Deidre Hahn (55.91) placed third and fifth, respectively, behind Milbrath in the 400m. Sophomore Lexy Boschee (14.84) placed fourth in the 100m hurdles, and freshman Jaelin Beachy took seventh (15.35).
Milbrath and Rose Jackson finished fifth and seventh, respectively, in the 200m dash.
The Bison had four placewinners in the discus, with Lesser taking second, Jordyn Thornton in fourth and Kelsey Laufenberg in sixth.
Hahn, Milbrath, Amanda Levin and Dustlynn Kaine placed fourth in the 4x100m relay, crossing the line in 46.85.
