FARGO, N.D. – Former North Dakota State men's basketball standout
Lawrence Alexander has signed a contract to begin his professional career in Germany.

Alexander, a 6-foot-3 native of Peoria, Ill., signed with Mitteldeutscher Basketball Club in Weissenfels, Germany. Mitteldeutscher BC plays in the Basketball Bundesliga (BBL), which is Germany's top basketball division.

Alexander was named The Summit League's Player of the Year and Tournament MVP as a senior in 2015, as well as earning NABC first-team All-District and AP honorable mention All-America honors. He ranked fifth in the nation in minutes per game (38.5) and eighth nationally in three-point percentage (44.1%) for the season.

He averaged 18.9 points and 4.5 rebounds per game for his senior year, leading the league in scoring and setting a new NDSU single-season record with 104 three-pointers made.

Alexander set new NDSU career records for minutes played (4,631), games started (131) and wins (90). He finished his Bison career ranked fourth in school history with 1,755 points.

The NDSU men's basketball program now has five alumni playing professionally in Europe, with Alexander joining Ben Woodside, Andre Smith,
Taylor Braun and
TrayVonn Wright.
