Payton Otterdahl extended his NDSU discus record by a remarkable nine feet to headline a dominant performance by the North Dakota State throwers at the South Dakota Invitational on Wednesday.

Otterdahl posted a throw of 193-9 (59.06m) to rank sixth in the NCAA this year in the discus. Five of his six attempts on Wednesday afternoon sailed beyond his previous school record of 184-10.

NDSU senior
Steffan Stroh won the hammer throw, throwing 212-5 (64.74m). Redshirt freshman
Alex Talley placed third in the hammer with a throw of 199-4 (60.75m), and Otterdahl threw a personal-best 197-5 (60.18m) for fourth.

Freshman
Trevor Otterdahl won the shot put title, throwing 55-10.25 (17.02m) to rank eighth in NDSU outdoor history. Talley placed second in the shot put, and sophomore
Michael Keogan was third.

Senior
Austin Schmidt took first place in the javelin, throwing 200-2 (61.02m). Freshman
Ty Ogren (Grand Forks, N.D.) was second with a throw of 193-2 (58.88m) in his Bison debut.

Ryan Enerson posted the second-fastest 110m hurdles time of his career, taking runner-up honors in 14.85. Senior
Aron Klos was runner-up in the 400m hurdles, running a season-best 54.78.

Redshirt freshman
Alex Bartholomay took third in the 3000m steeplechase, running 9:43.18.

Junior
J.T. Butler ran 10.69 for third place in the 100m dash and 21.96 for third in the 200m. Freshman
Alex Brosseau placed sixth in the 200m in 22.21 and finished 10th in the 100m in a season-best 11.01.
