FARGO, N.D. – North Dakota State senior thrower
Payton Otterdahl improved his school record and NCAA-leading mark in the weight throw on Saturday afternoon, headlining the efforts of the Bison men's track & field team at the Thundering Herd Classic.

After establishing the top marks by a collegiate athlete in both the weight throw and shot put in December, Otterdahl threw 77-08.25 (23.68m) to win the weight throw on Saturday. He ranks No. 1 in the NCAA this season, adding seven inches to his previous school record.

Although he did not compete in the shot put this weekend, Otterdahl still holds the top mark in the world this season in that event.

Sophomore
Alex Talley threw an indoor personal-best 60-01.25 (18.32m) to win the shot put, moving him up to fourth in NDSU indoor history. He now stands at No. 13 in the nation early this season.

Bison senior
Kelle'Mon Hinton won the triple jump with a lifetime-best 49-11.25 (15.22m) to rank sixth in NDSU history. He also took runner-up honors in the long jump.

Bison sophomore
Marcus Walton went over 6-10 in the high jump for the second straight meet. He took first place in the meet, clearing 6-10.25 (2.09m).

Evan Kottsick won the 1000m and moved to No. 7 all-time at NDSU in the event, running 2:28.13. NDSU sophomore
Alex Bartholomay posted a personal-best in the mile by more than four seconds, running 4:13.31 for third place today.

J.T. Butler won the 60m dash (7.00) and took third in the 200m dash (22.17). Bison freshman
Beau Brannan (Bismarck Legacy HS) won the 800m, running 1:57.41.

Cody Roder (Bemidji, Minn.) won the 400m dash, leading a Bison sweep of the top three places in 50.17. Freshman
Josh Knutson took second in 50.23.

Ben Klimpke claimed first in the 60m hurdles (8.49). Sophomore
Eric VanErp won the long jump with a mark of 23-03.50 (7.10m) and posted a personal-best mark of 45-11.25 (14.00m) in the triple jump.

Trevor Otterdahl improved his PR in the weight throw, ranking sixth in school history after throwing 65-01.25 (19.84m) for third place today.

Michael Keogan registered personal-bests in both throwing events. He now ranks 10th in NDSU history in the weight throw, going 63-03.50 (19.29m) for a fifth-place finish today. Keogan threw 57-02.00 (17.42m) in the shot put to stand eighth in NDSU indoor history.

The Bison host Northern Iowa and Wyoming next Saturday, Jan. 19, for the inaugural Bison Team Cup – a triangular, scored meet with a team champion crowned at the conclusion.
