FARGO, N.D. – Led by national top-20 performances from
Payton Otterdahl,
Alex Talley and
Elliott Stone, the North Dakota State men's track & field team took first place in the inaugural Bison Team Cup held on Saturday.

NDSU finished with 121 team points, topping Northern Iowa (92) and Wyoming (71) for the team title.
Â
Otterdahl continues to rank No. 1 in the NCAA this season in both the shot put and weight throw. He threw 68-07.00 (20.90m) to win the shot put on Saturday, with Talley posting an indoor personal-best of 60-10.00 (18.54m) for second.

Talley, a sophomore from West Fargo, N.D., took first in the weight throw, launching a personal-best 67-09.75 (20.67m) that ranks second in NDSU history and No. 13 in the NCAA this year.

Stone, a junior distance runner from Bismarck, N.D., trimmed nearly eight seconds off his PR in the 3000m to win the event in 8:18.57. He now ranks 19th in the country this season and third all-time at NDSU.

Sophomore
Marcus Walton won the high jump for the third straight meet, clearing a season-best 6-11.00 (2.11m) to rank sixth in school history. He now stands at No. 29 on the national performance list.

In all, the Bison men won seven individual events. Alex Barthlolomay (4:11.36) and
Tim Heikkila (4:11.74) finished 1-2 in the mile. Senior
Jacob Richter won the 400m dash in 48.71, and sophomore
Cody Roder was third in 49.34.

Chris McGlynn took first in the pole vault, clearing 14-09.50 (4.51m).

Kelle'Mon Hinton finished second in the triple jump and fourth in the long jump. Junior thrower
Michael Keogan placed sixth in the shot put, but improved his indoor-best to 57-06.25 (17.53m) ranking eighth in NDSU history.

Bison freshman
Josh Samyn ran 1:56.33 in the 800m for third place in the meet. Sophomore
Dominic Martinez was third in the 60m hurdles in 8.44 seconds.
