BROOKINGS, S.D. – Another meet. Another ridiculous feat by Payton Otterdahl.
 
The world-leading thrower headlined the efforts of the North Dakota State men's track & field team once again on Saturday at the SDSU Indoor Classic. Otterdahl added 15 inches to his school record and NCAA-leading mark in the weight throw, launching the weight 78-11.25 (24.06m).
 
Along with leading the nation by 20 inches this season, now only four collegians have ever thrown the weight further than Otterdahl.
 
The Rosemount, Minn., native is the only man to rank among the top five in collegiate indoor history in both the shot put and weight throw.
 
Otterdahl also won the shot put with a throw of 66-06.00 (20.27m), as NDSU had the top four collegians in the competition.
 
Bison sophomore Tim Heikkila ran a personal-best 4:08.75 for the mile, ranking him sixth all-time at NDSU. It was the fastest time by a Bison in seven years.
 
Sophomore Alex Bartholomay (Bowman, N.D.) was close behind with a personal-best time of 4:10.37. Bison junior Evan Kottsick crossed the line in a career-best 4:12.87.
 
Bison sophomore Cody Roder ran a personal-best 48.55 in the 400m for seventh place. Freshman Josh Knutson clocked a season-best 49.10 for 11th.
 
Freshman Josh Samyn was NDSU's top finisher in the 800m, running 1:54.73 for ninth place. Bison freshman Jacob Rodin clocked 1:54.87 to take 11th. Both times were season-bests.
 
NDSU sophomore Alex Talley took third in both the shot put (61-04.25 / 18.70m) and weight throw (67-06.75 / 20.59m).
 
Sophomore Marcus Walton cleared 6-08.00 (2.03m) in the high jump for fifth place, and sophomore Eric VanErp took eighth in the triple jump with a near-personal best of 45-11.25 (14.00m).
 
Senior sprinter J.T. Butler took seventh in the 60m dash, running 6.93 seconds in the prelims and 6.99 in the final.
