FARGO, N.D. – The Gold edged the Green 2-1 (25-23, 16-25, 26-24) in the annual North Dakota State University volleyball scrimmage to finish preseason workouts before 132 spectators on Saturday, Aug. 24, in the Bentson Bunker Fieldhouse.

Jennifer Lopez and staff shuffled the lineups, putting together different combinations up front and in the back row.

The scrimmage came down to the final set, featuring 15 ties and four lead changes. Trailing 24-22, the Gold faced match point twice but rebounded to rattle off four straight points for the win.
Kirstin Tidd,
Alexis Bachmeier and
Emily Halverson helped to keep a step ahead of the Green.

Bachmeier had 12 kills, 13 digs and a pair of service aces, while Tidd finished with 11 kills and six blocks and Halverson added nine kills and four blocks.
Kalli Hegerle set for the Gold throughout, recording 29 assists, six digs and a block.
Ava Schmoll collected 10 of her 17 digs in the third set.

Bella Lien turned in a solid performance up front with 11 kills and match-high eight blocks.
Kaylee Hanger came up with the dig of match in set two and had 11 digs, while
Abbi Klos had 18 pickups.
Kelley Johnson was the Green setter, logging 34 assists, 17 digs and a pair of aces.
Allie Mauch had a match-high 20 kills.

North Dakota State is scheduled to open the 2019 season against host Toledo at 6 p.m. CT on Friday, Aug. 30, at the University of Toledo's Blue & Gold Tournament. The NDSU home opener is 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13, against Cal in the NDSU Classic.
