Rogers, Bison Hold Off Brandon in Five-Game Exhibition Tilt

FARGO, N.D.--Lindsay Shockman-Rogers belted the go-ahead kill and assisted on the winning block as North Dakota State outlasted Brandon University (Manitoba) in a five-game college women's volleyball exhibition match Saturday, Oct. 15, before a crowd of 274 at the Bentson Bunker Fieldhouse.

North Dakota State won 30-19, 30-24, 25-30, 20-30, 21-19.  The Bison nearly let a two-game advantage slip for the second evening in a row, but cracked a tough Brandon defense for the win.

Rogers belted a high set from Bethany Boelter past Brandon libero Krystle Bush to put the Bison up 20-19.  Bush had a match-high 22 digs including five timely, tough saves in the deciding set.

NDSU won the match on a block by Rogers and Chloe Quirk, stopping Brandon middle hitter Erin Henning, who had four kills in the deciding game and 14 overall.

Rogers posted a double-double with 15 kills and 10 blocks to lead the Bison.  Kim Hebl had 13 kills, Kristen Hille had 11 kills, 16 digs and three blocks, and Christy Stuewe had 10 kills and four blocks.

North Dakota State had 17 total blocks, including five each by Sheila Parrish and Kelly Kaufmann.

Jen Restall had a match-high 20 kills and added 19 digs in the loss for the Bobcats.

North Dakota State, still 1-23 overall, returns to action at home Friday, Oct. 21, against South Dakota State at 7 p.m.
