Border States congratulates Austin Schmidt, one of this week's Border States Electric Student-Athletes of the Week.
Schmidt, a senior from Stanley, N.D., opened the 2018 outdoor season with the fourth-best javelin throw of his career, 223-7 (68.16m), for a runner-up finish. The 2017 Summit League runner-up in the javelin, Schmidt finished last season ranked 4th on the NDSU all-time list in the javelin. He has a 3.857 GPA in business administration.
