Second team All-America safety by the American Football Coaches Association in 1967. Intercepted passes and returned them for TDs in both his sophomore and junior seasons. Member of the 1965 national championship football team as a sophomore. Also a standout performer on the baseball diamond for three seasons. He led the team in stolen bases for two years. His 13 steals as a senior was then a school record. Loose had a tryout with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the CFL in 1968 before serving in the U.S. Army as a military policeman.
