In two years as a Bison, Torson twice earned all-conference honors in basketball, won the NCC long jump title in 1949, and played on the golf team after attending Moorhead State for two years. He turned down a chance to play professional basketball to become at head coach at Hillsboro (N.D.) High School. A general agent for Western States Life Insurance Co., Torson has won numerous honors in his field. He is a former president of the Moorhead Country Club, the Moorhead Kiwanis Club, and the Moorhead State Foundation and held offices in several Fargo-Moorhead businesses.
