Tschider was a two-time All-North Central Conference player for the Bison on the gridiron in the mid-1950s and was NDSU's MVP in 1957. He played both center and linebacker, lettering three straight years under three different head coaches. He was All-NCC in 1956 and 1957.

A native of Bismarck, N.D., he was an all-state player for St. Mary's High School. He holds a bachelor's degree from NDSU in 1958 and a master's degree from UND in 1959.

Tschider has been an administrator and CEO of St. Alexius Medical Center in Bismarck since 1976. Honored many times, Tschider holds many leadership roles in the state and is on the board of directors of numerous organizations including Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota, Norwest Bank and St. Alexius Medical Center.
