Earned four letters in baseball, three in football, and two in track for the Bison in the early 1920s. He was one of the 11 Bison “Iron Men” who played 60 minutes of the 1923 scoreless tie with Des Moines without substitution. He became the athletic director at North Dakota State School of Science in 1924 and coached or instructed there for the next 42 years. His grid teams went 25-1-1 from 1936-39 and he was named National Small College Coach of the Year in 1964. His teams won 14 league titles in football, basketball, golf and tennis.
