Tagged by many longtime Bison watchers as probably the best all-around gridder to play at NDSU. A three-time All-North Central Conference running back who earned national recognition when he was selected to play in the first annnual North-South All-Star game in Alabama in 1938. Also an outstanding defensive back, he twice launched 75-yard punts -- all in the air, no roll -- against Moorhead State in 1937 and Creighton in 1938. Competed in basketball and track at NDSU. He played professional football with the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Chicago Cardinals.
