One of the outstanding wrestlers for North Dakota State when the Bison were coming into national prominence, Forde compiled a 61-17-3 record over a four-year career at 142 pounds. He won two North Central Conference championships (1969 and 1971), finished second in 1972, and was third in 1970. He was a four-time national qualifier and finished sixth in the nation in 1971 as a junior. The Bison finished fourth in the nation his junior year and tied for second in the NCAA national meet his senior year, marking NDSU’s first top-10 national finishes. After serving as a graduate assistant for the Bison, Forde became the head wrestling coach at Fargo South High School. He has coached the Bruins for over 20 years.
