Two-time All-North Central Conference linebacker and honorable mention All-American at that post in the mid-1960s for the Herd. Earned his all-league awards in 1966 and 1967 for two Bison teams that won NCC championships. Ahneman was a tri-captain of the 1967 NDSU football team, the same season he received All-America recognition. Named the head football coach at Bismarck (N.D.) St. Mary’s High School in 1968 and coached the Saints for a number of years.
