Led the Bison football team to 28 wins in 31 games from 1965 to 1967. Quarterbacked the Herd to an 11-0 season and the national championship his sophomore year. While playing for Darrell Mudra and Ron Erhardt, the Bison won three NCC championships and played in two postseason bowl games. Established seven career or single-season records, including most yards passing in a season and a career, and the best pass completion percentage in a season and a career. He also held the mark for most career TD passes thrown.
