A football and basketball ace for North Dakota State, McKay was twice all-conference in basketball for teams that won two consecutive North Central Conference titles and lost only one league game in two seasons. Also an all-conference football player for the Bison in 1932. He played semi-pro basketball and baseball until age 40. Joined the Hormel Company after graduating from NDSU where he stayed until retiring in 1971.
