Schollander, a three-year football varsity regular in the early 1930s, was an All-NCC selection in 1932 and 1934. He was a bruising runner for the 1932 team which was the second NDSU football squad to win the conference championship, the school’s first outright title. He was named the most outstanding player in the NDSU-UND games of 1933 and 1934 and had a 60-yard fumble return for touchdown in the 1932 homecoming game vs. UND. He is the father of Don Schollander, gold medalist as a swimmer in the 1964 and 1968 Summer Olympics. His wife, Martha, swam professionally as Martha Dent Perry in many Johnny Weismueller motion pictures.
