Compiled by Soccer Buzz Magazine, the North Dakota State women's soccer team's 2005 recruiting class is ranked No. 2 among Division I Independent teams.
"North Dakota State brought in solid recruits for a program in just its second year of Division I play," according to Soccer Buzz.
Colorado College had the top rated class while South Dakota State was third and Northern Colorado fourth. Utah Valley State (No.5), Longwood (No. 6) and Howard (No.7) completed the list of independent schools.
A pair of Los Angeles universities held the top overall spots. USC edged cross-town rival UCLA for the highest rated incoming class. Defending Division I national champion Notre Dame was ranked No. 8.
Seven student-athletes make up the 2005 Bison recruiting class: Becky Iwanicki (Calgary, Alberta), Nicole Rand (Plymouth, Minn.), Holly Ramaeker (Omaha, Neb.), Megan Carrica (Chaska, Minn.), Stacey Howell (Edmonton, Alberta), Karli Kopietz (Champlin Park, Minn.) and Jestina Orlando (Park Ridge, Ill.).
"Our focus is, we want to make sure that everyone can compete when they come in," NDSU head coach Pete Cuadrado said.
"We look for people that will fight for playing time. All of the recruits will fight for playing time and that's the nice part of this recruiting class."
Cuadrado guided the Bison to a 5-11-1 record in NDSU's first season of Division I soccer in 2004.
