Three Bison Earn D-I Independent Women's Golf Postseason Honors

EDINBURG, Texas ? North Dakota State golfers Kelly Weisgarber, Amanda Miller and Chelsey Wongjirad were Division I all-independent women's golf team selections for the 2006-07 season. The all-independent team was selected by a vote of the sports information directors and the head coaches representing the independent schools.
Weisgarber, a senior from Fargo, was a first-team selection on the D-I independent squad. A transfer from Northern Arizona, Weisgarber had three top-5 finishes in eight events this season and broke the single-round school record with a 1-under 71 at the Wyoming Cowgirl Classic on April 10.
In 19 rounds this season, Weisgarber averaged a team-best 80.3 strokes per round.
Miller and Wongjirad earned second-team honors on the D-I independent squad. Miller, a sophomore from Wahpeton, N.D., was second on the team with an 82.3 stroke average and had a season-best ninth-place finish at the Concordia Invite last September. Miller was a third-team selection on the D-I independent squad last season.
Wongjirad finished tied for fifth with Weisgarber at the Concordia Invite and averaged 82.9 strokes per round. A sophomore from Bismarck, N.D., and a transfer from Boston College, Wongjirad also was named to the D-I independent all-newcomer team this season.
