Zimmerman Belts Three Homers and Bison Snap 13-Game Losing Streak Against Mary, 22-11

FARGO, N.D.--Kole Zimmerman tied a school record with three home runs and Dustin Wenzel hit a pinch-hit grand slam in his second at-bat of the season to lead North Dakota State to a 22-11 victory over Mary in college baseball Tuesday, April 15, at Newman Outdoor Field.

Zimmerman finished 3-for-5 with four RBIs and four runs scored for North Dakota State (7-20), which snapped a 13-game losing streak.  He's the fourth player in school history to hit three homers in a game and the first since Jason Hoff did it in March 1999 against Southwest Minnesota State.

Ryan Langlais also hit his first home run of the season for NDSU.  Langlais was 3-for-5 with three RBIs and four runs scored, and teammate Kenny Beese was 3-for-4.

Bison starter Shannon Ekermans pitched six innings for the win.  Ekermans allowed six runs on eight hits with two walks and five strikeouts to improve to 2-3 on the year.

Leadoff hitter Andy Leer was 4-for-6 to lead the Marauders (10-21).  Teammates Tyler Liffrig and Casey Gray were both 3-for-5.

North Dakota State travels to IPFW for a four-game Summit League series this Friday, Saturday and Sunday in Fort Wayne, Ind.  The Bison are 0-7 in the league.
