TUCSON, Ariz.--Host and No. 11-ranked University of Arizona exploded for six runs in the fourth inning en route to a 10-0 victory over North Dakota State at Hillenbrand Stadium. The Bison defeated the University of Utah 4-2 in the first game on Friday, Feb. 20, during the opening day of the Wildcat Invitational hosted by the University of Arizona.

North Dakota State, which had its win streak snapped at 10 games, is scheduled to play Utah at 1:30 p.m. (MT) and No. 11 Arizona at 6:30 p.m. (MT) on Saturday, Feb. 21.

In the opener Andi Padilla (5-0) scattered six hits in the complete-game victory for the Bison (6-1). She struck out three and walked four.

Utah (7-5) saw its four-game winning streak come to an end. The Utes lost 16-1 in five innings to Arizona (9-2) in Friday's final game.

Utah took a 1-0 lead in the first on a two-out double by Sharee Fonoti that dropped into left after Kara Foster walked, stole second and moved to third on a groundout. But the Bison answered.

North Dakota State loaded the bases in the bottom of the first with two outs, after successive walks issued by Utah pitcher Brittainy Parker, and then tied the game on a soft roller mishandled by Parker. Breanna Konz followed with an RBI single past third. Taylor Lynn drew another walk to force in Richel Briones for a third unearned run.

NDSU added another run in the third with a walk by Kelly Cantrell that chased Parker, a single by Briones, a sac bunt by Jackie Currie and an infield bunt single by Lynn to drive in Cantrell. Lynn finished with a pair of RBI.

The Utes added a run with a one-out solo home run by Foster in the seventh, her fifth of the year. Parker (0-1) took the loss in her second start of the year for Utah.

Lauren Schultzler went 3 for 3 with three runs scored and three RBI to pace the Wildcats in the second game. Arizona scored one run in the first, three in the second and then exploded for six in the fourth inning. Laine Roth belted a three-run home run to highlight the big frame. It was Roth's second home run of the season.

The Bison threatened in the top of the fourth inning when Laurel Pipkin and Elisa Victa led off with back-to-back singles. However, Melissa Chmielewski lined out to the second baseman, Pipkin was caught stealing and Arizona pitcher Sarah Akamine recorded one of her three strikeouts to end the inning.

Akamine improved to 5-0 with the two-hit shutout. Kim Westendorf (1-1) recorded the loss for NDSU.
