FARGO, N.D. - D.J. Hamilton had 32 points and seven assists and red-hot Minnesota State Moorhead buried 15 three-pointers to beat North Dakota State 90-84 in double overtime Tuesday, Nov. 1, in exhibition men's basketball at the Bison Sports Arena.

A crowd of 1,653 was on hand to watch the Dragons beat NDSU for the first time since December 2003 and the first time in Fargo since December 1992 - although the exhibition game won't officially count in the record book.

Six-foot-10 forward Jake Lindfors - a transfer from Division I Albany - had 21 points, 12 rebounds and four blocks for MSU Moorhead, and Australian junior-college transfer Scotty Kenny hit three of his four 3-pointers in the extra periods to finish with 16 points off the bench for the Dragons.

TrayVonn Wright went 10-for-18 from the field and led the Bison with 21 points, six rebounds, two blocks and three steals.  Marshall Bjorklund had 14 points, Taylor Braun finished with 12 points and six rebounds, and Eric Carlson had 10 points and six boards.

MSUM made 11 of its first 14 shots including five 3-pointers to build a 16-point lead 31-15 with 7:18 left to play in the first half.  The Bison cut it to single digits inside the 4-minute mark and scored three baskets in the final 30 seconds of the half to go to the locker room down 37-34.

NDSU took its first lead of the game at the 12:34 mark of the second half when Mike Felt's 3-pointer put the Bison ahead 52-50, but it didn't last as Hamilton answered with a deep 3 from the wing on the next possession.

The Dragons went up by as many as eight points again on back-to-back 3-pointers by Hamilton and Jake Lindfors, but MSUM missed its last five field goal attempts of regulation before getting two free throws from Lindfors to tie it at 67 with 26 seconds to play.

Wright's jumper with five seconds left in regulation missed.  Wright forced a steal in the lane after a defensive rebound by Jake Driscoll but couldn't get a shot off before time expired.

MSUM didn't score a field goal in the first overtime until the 1:13 mark when Lindfors hit a 3-pointer to tie it at 71, and Kenny buried another 3-pointer with 16 seconds left to knot it at 76.  Braun missed a twisting layup in traffic with five seconds left.

Hamilton's jumper with 1:10 left in the second OT broke an 82-82 tie and, after Lindfors blocked Braun on the opposite end, Hamilton buried another jumper with 18 seconds left to give the Dragons an 86-82 lead.

A quick layup by Nate Zastrow with 12 seconds left cut the Bison deficit to two, but Jake Driscoll and Charlie Chapman combined to make four free throws for the final margin.

MSUM finished with a 33-28 advantage in total rebounds and outshot NDSU 52.9 to 51.4 percent.  Both teams were hot in the first half - MSUM shot 66.7 percent to NDSU's 63.6.

North Dakota State is scheduled to host the Concordia Cobbers at 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, to close out exhibition play.
