
NDSU's Anderson Qualifies for U.S. Women's Open

MEDINA, Minn. - North Dakota State's Amy Anderson qualfied for the USGA Women's Open by winning the Minnesota sectional qualifier at the Medina Golf and Country Club on Monday, May 23.
Anderson, a sophomore from Oxbow, N.D., shot rounds of 71 and 70 to finish at 3-under-par 141 and win by one stroke over amateur Kelly Shon. Both advanced to the U.S. Women's Open scheduled for July 7-10 at The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs, Colo.
There were seven professionals in the 35-player field. Sunday's practice round was canceled due to severe weather.
Anderson completed her second collegiate season two days before the qualifier. She tied for 12th at the NCAA Division I championship, where she shot a 2-over-par 290 in the four-round event.
Anderson was the Summit League champion and led the league with a school-record 73.10 average over 31 rounds. She was voted to the Division I All-America second team by the National Golf Coaches Association.
