Two North Dakota State women's track & field relay teams ended the 2012 season ranked among the nation's best, according to the season-end lists compiled by Track & Field News.
The Bison owned the fifth-fastest 4x800m relay performance in the nation last season, running 8:36.31 at the Drake Relays on Apr. 27. The team of Paige Stratioti, Ashlynn Simon, Faith Kruchowski and Brittany Schanandore took second place at Drake, getting edged by Notre Dame in a dramatic finish. Stratioti, Simon and Kruchowski all return this season.
Individually, all four Bison recorded sub-2:10 800m times over the course of the season. Simon, Kruchowski and Schanandore finished 2-3-4 in the 800m at The Summit League Championships.
Maddie McClellan, Amy Jo Thorne, Abbi Aspengren and Marissa Dahlquist posted the sixth-fastest 4x1600m relay time in the country in 2012, clocking in at 19:51.76 at the Drake Relays. McClellan and Aspengren remain with NDSU this season.
Both relays rank No. 2 all-time at NDSU.
