FARGO, N.D. – The North Dakota State University women's basketball team (4-4) led from start to finish in an 83-66 victory over the Mayville State University Comets (7-3) on Monday night, Dec. 8, inside the Bentson Bunker Fieldhouse.
Senior guard
Brooke LeMar led the Bison with a team-high 22 points and game-high six assists, while junior forward
Holly Johnson tallied a double-double with 16 points and a career-high 14 rebounds, and freshman guard
Taylor Thunstedt netted a career-best 14 points and five assists.
The Bison shot 38 percent (28-for-74) from the field, 31 percent (11-for-36) from three-point range, and 73 percent (16-of-22) from the free-throw line in the game. NDSU dished out a season-best 18 assists and outrebounded Mayville State, 51-49.
Mayville State was paced by junior guard Jenna Lundon with 22 points on 8-for-23 shooting, while sophomore guard Kendra Heier pulled down a team-best eight boards.
The Comets went just 20-for-69 from the field (29 percent) and 7-for-32 from beyond the arc (22 percent). Mayville State went 19-of-26 from the foul line for 73 percent.
With the win, NDSU improves to 4-4 on the season.North Dakota State returns to action on Thursday, Dec. 11, at Northern Iowa. Tip-off from the McLeod Center in Cedar Falls is scheduled for 7 p.m.
