Keller Named to Fred Mitchell Award Watch List

2014 Fred Mitchell Award Watch List

FARGO, N.D. - North Dakota State's Adam Keller is one of 36 placekickers in college football named to the watch list for the sixth annual Fred Mitchell Award, which recognizes excellence on the field and in the community.

Keller, a senior from Lewisberry, Pa., set school records for PAT kicks made (76) and attempted (78) for the second straight season.  Keller converted 9 of 12 field goals including a season-long 48-yarder in the FCS quarterfinal victory over Coastal Carolina.  He led the Bison in scoring with 103 points.

Keller has been active off the field as a youth soccer coach, nursing home volunteer, middle school tutor, Special Olympics volunteer and Blue Key Honor Society member.  He is one of seven kickers from the Football Championship Subdivision and three from the Missouri Valley Football Conference including Nick Aussieker of Illinois State and Thomas Kinney of Southern Illinois.

The selection committee includes former college or NFL placekickers and members of the Pro and/or College Football Hall of Fame, including Tom Beck, Kevin Butler, Paul Hornung, Marv Levy, Steve McMichael, Don Pierson and Gale Sayers.  The winner is announced in mid-December and the award is presented in February at the National Football Foundation Chicago Metro Chapter awards ceremony.
