GRAND FORKS, N.D. – In each of the first five Division I meetings between the North Dakota State and University of North Dakota men's basketball teams, the home team emerged victorious.

NDSU freshman guard Khy Kabellis refused to let the streak live any longer.

Kabellis came off the bench to score a team-high 18 points on 6-of-7 shooting, including a 4-for-5 effort from beyond the arc, to lift the Bison to a 69-67 come-from-behind victory on the road in Grand Forks on Friday night.

UND (4-5 overall) rattled off an early 16-1 run to take a 20-8 lead with 9:23 remaining in the first half. The Fighting Hawks led 35-25 at halftime and stretched their margin to 15 points at 40-25 two minutes into the second half.

NDSU (6-3 overall) never went away, trimming the deficit to single digits before ultimately tying the game at 58-58 on a three-pointer by Kabellis with 3:38 left. Kabellis gave NDSU its first lead since early in the first half at 60-58 when he sliced through the UND defense for a layup with 2:58 to play.

Dexter Werner made a pair of free throws, and Kabellis followed up with his fourth three-pointer to give NDSU a 65-59 edge with one minute remaining. North Dakota cut the margin to one at 68-67 with back-to-back buckets in the final minute, but Paul Miller tacked on one final free throw with 3.7 seconds left, and Werner blocked Geno Crandall's three-point attempt at the buzzer.

Kabellis added five rebounds, three assists and two steals to ignite the Bison rally. Sophomore A.J. Jacobson scored 12 points, and Paul Miller added 11 for NDSU. Werner finished with 10 points and eight rebounds.

NDSU shot 14-of-24 (58 percent) in the second half and made 6-of-10 three-point attempts to outscore UND 44-32 after halftime.

UND's Quinton Hooker led all scorers with 26 points.

The Bison overcame a 14-for-31 (45 percent) performance at the free throw line.
