Young NDSU Men’s 4x400m Relay Runs Fastest Time in 10 Years

NORWALK, Calif. – The North Dakota State men's track & field team had three freshmen and a sophomore team up to run the fastest 4x400m relay in 10 years on Saturday at the Beach Invitational. The quartet of Matt Bedard, Aron Klos, Landon Jochim and Wesley DeLong captured a first-place finish in 3:11.71 – the top time for the Bison since the 2005 season.
Bedard and Jochim are true freshmen, Klos is a redshirt freshman, and DeLong is a sophomore. Their time was also the fastest by a Summit League school since the 2012 season.
Jochim clocked 48.25 in the 400m dash earlier in the day. Bedard and Klos ran 54.69 and 54.86, respectively, in the 400m hurdles.
Sophomore thrower Alex Renner came within one inch of his school record in the shot put, throwing 59-00.25 (17.99m) for third place. Freshman Payton Otterdahl recorded a throw of 57-09.50 (17.61m) to place fifth.
Senior Parker McKittrick ran season-best times in the 110m hurdles in back-to-back days, finishing in 14.52 at the Beach Invitational today. He is the new Summit League leader in the event.
NDSU volunteer assistant coach and USA javelin champion Riley Dolezal won the Mt. SAC Relays javelin title on Saturday with a mark of 261-5 (79.69m). Dolezal is now ranked 15th on the world performance list this year.
The Bison will travel to the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa, on Apr. 24-25.
