NDSU Men’s Track & Field Opens Competition at Drake Relays

Kip Janvrin Open Results
DES MOINES, Iowa – The North Dakota State men's track and field team split athletes between a pair of meets in Iowa on Friday, competing at the Drake Relays and the Kip Janvrin Open.
Junior Tyler Parker was the top Bison finisher in the men's javelin at Drake, throwing 219-10 (67.02m) for fifth place. Sophomore Matti Mortimore placed sixth with a mark of 219-1 (66.78m).
Former Bison and current volunteer assistant coach Riley Dolezal took runner-up honors in the javelin with a throw of 248-11 (75.89m).
Wesley DeLong, Landon Jochim, Matt Bedard & Aron Klos placed 12th in the 4x200m relay in 1:27.06. The same quartet teamed up in a different order – Bedard, Klos, Jochim and DeLong – to run 3:14.66 in the 4x400m relay for 23rd place.
NDSU assistant coach Trevor Barry finished 10th in the special invite high jump at the Drake Relays, clearing 7-03.00 (2.21m).
At the Kip Janvrin Open in Indianola, Iowa, NDSU redshirt freshman Brant Gilbertson won the 3,000m steeplechase in a personal-best time of 9:31.30. Senior Grady Anderson was the runner-up in 9:31.61.
Bison junior Ben Schultz took fifth in the 800m in 1:55.29. Senior Lucas DeGree was seventh in the 1500m in 3:58.99.
NDSU will conclude competition at the Drake Relays on Saturday.
