FARGO, N.D.--Krista Menke matched a career-high with 16 strikeouts in throwing her fourth no-hitter of the season in a 1-0 shutout of IUPUI in game one and the Bison hit three home runs in a 9-1 game two win to complete a Summit League doubleheader sweep on Saturday, May 2, before 183 spectators at the Ellig Sports Complex.

NDSU (39-9, 15-2 SL) won its fourth straight Summit League regular season title and clinched the No. 1 seed for the league's postseason tournament scheduled to begin Wednesday, May 6, at the Ellig Sports Complex. The Bison and IUPUI (31-15, 9-7 SL) are scheduled to close out the three-game series with an 11 a.m. single-game Sunday, May 3.

Menke, a 5-foot-11 senior from Friend, Neb., worked out of a bases-loaded jam in the top of the fourth inning. She struck out the first two batters before Roni Patterson and Eryn Dillon were issued walks. Patterson and Dillon moved up a base on a passed ball. Maggie Good walked to load the bases. Taylor Chitwood fouled out to the catcher to end the inning.

Menke struck out 16 batters to match her career-high set twice previously this season against Bowling Green (3-14-15) and Montana (3-1-15). She reached double-figures in strikeouts for the 21st time this season and 28th in her career. She finished with 109 pitches including 73 for strikes to complete her fifth career no-hitter. Menke recorded her 11th shutout of the season and 32nd of her career.

North Dakota State scored the game's only run in the bottom of the sixth inning. Alex Sobrero led off with a walk, stole second and advanced to third on Jackie Stifter's sacrifice bunt. Martiza Lopez-Portillo lifted a sacrifice fly to left center field to send Sobrero home with the eventual game-winning run. Jenna Isbel led the Bison with a pair of singles.

IUPUI's Brooke Boetjer and Nickole Finch (0-1) matched Menke through the first five innings, but Finch was tagged with the loss. Boetjer and Finch combined to allow three hits, strike out five and walk four.

The Jaguars bounced back in game two to take an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Patterson reached on a two-out infield single and scored on Dillon's triple down the right field line.

NDSU answered with four runs in the bottom of the second inning. Stifter led off with a towering home run to the opposite field in left on the first pitch of the frame. It was Stifter's second home run of the season.

The second continued as Lopez-Portillo reached on an error and Isbel received a one-out base on balls. The pair moved to second and third on a ground out. Logan Moreland then launched a fly to right that hit the second fence in right field and bounced back on the field. The umpires conferred and Moreland had a three-run home run, her sixth of the season.

North Dakota State closed out the scoring in the bottom of the sixth inning. Cheyenne Garcia, Amanda Grable and Stifter each delivered RBI singles. Lopez-Portillo ended the game with a two-run home run to left, her fifth of the season. It was the second straight home series that Lopez-Portillo ended a game with a home run. Moreland, Garcia and Stifter each finished with two hits.

Jacquelyn Sertic (11-5) benefitted from the offense and an alert defensive to record the win. Sertic scattered three hits, struck out six and issued no walks.

Emili Escamilla (11-5) and Finch pitched for IUPUI with Escamilla picking up the loss. The pair combined to walk four and strike out four.
