IUPUI Beats North Dakota State with Last-Second Three-Pointer

INDIANAPOLIS – IUPUI's Jordan Pickett drained a three-pointer with one second remaining to give the Jaguars a 73-72, come-from-behind victory over the North Dakota State men's basketball team on Sunday afternoon.
 
Dexter Werner made the second of two free throw attempts to give NDSU a 72-70 lead with 11 seconds left, but Pickett's game-winning trey from the wing kept IUPUI (11-13, 7-2) in a tie for first place in The Summit League. Paul Miller's 70-foot heave at the buzzer hit the rim but was no good. 
 
NDSU fell to 14-8 overall and 4-4 in The Summit League with the loss. It was NDSU's first loss to IUPUI in seven meetings.
 
NDSU sophomore guard Paul Miller finished with 21 points, including five three-pointers, to lead all players. Freshman Khy Kabellis scored 12 points for the Bison.
 
Pickett led IUPUI with 20 points.
 
NDSU led by as many as 10 points in the second half, taking a 63-53 lead on a three-pointer by Miller with 8:38 left. IUPUI scored the next 12 points to regain the lead as the Bison went scoreless for nearly five minutes.
 
Kory Brown knocked down a 16-foot jumper to put NDSU up 71-68 with 20 seconds left, but the Jaguars answered with a tip-in to set the score at 71-70 before the final sequence.
 
Bison freshman Dylan Miller had seven rebounds and four blocked shots. Werner finished with nine rebounds.
 
The Bison shot 65 percent in the first half, including a 5-for-7 effort from beyond the arc. NDSU erased an early 19-13 deficit to lead by as many as seven at 43-36 in final minute of the half.
 
The Bison return home to host Oral Roberts on Thursday, Feb. 4, and IPFW on Saturday, Feb. 6.
