OMAHA, Neb. — Chloe Dousette connected for 20 kills and Omaha had 13 service aces as the Mavericks defeated North Dakota State 3-2 (21-25, 25-22, 25-20, 17-25, 15-9) in a Summit League volleyball match played Sunday, Oct. 16, at Sapp Fieldhouse.

It was the fourth straight five-set match for NDSU, the most consecutive five-set matches since early in the 2009 season against Florida State, Northern Colorado and Miami (Fla.).

NDSU (4-4 SL, 6-15) is scheduled to play at surging Oral Roberts (4-4 SL, 12-10) at 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, in Tulsa.

Emily Minnick had 16 kills and hit .367 for North Dakota State and became the 24th player to reach 1,000 kills in a career. Minnick, a 6-foot-1 senior from Willmar, Minn., has 1,002 kills overall.

NDSU won the first set and had a lead in the second, but Omaha (2-6 SL, 5-17) rallied to take the next two as the Mavericks hit .333 in the second set and .275 in the third.

Omaha proved to be tough at the service line as Nicki Carson and Kayla Torson each had four aces, while Spanton added two. The Bison finished with three aces. Carson also had 11 kills for the Mavericks. Omaha also held an 8-6 edge in team blocks.

Mikaela Purnell recorded a career and match-high 35 digs, reaching 30-plus digs for the third straight match and fourth time in her career.

North Dakota State outhit Omaha .235 to .199 as
Hadley Steffen finished with 15 kills and
Emily Miron added nine.
Brianna Rasmusson was credited with 39 assists, nine digs and seven kills.
