GRAND FORKS, N.D. – The North Dakota State men's basketball team ran away with an 87-70 victory over in-state rival North Dakota on Friday night.

NDSU improved to 8-4 with one non-conference game remaining. North Dakota fell to 5-4 on the season. The Bison led for 29 of the game's 40 minutes and have now won three of the last four against North Dakota, including two straight on the road.

Junior guard
Paul Miller led the Bison with 22 points and eight rebounds. Junior
A.J. Jacobson matched his season-high with 18 points, making 9-of-10 attempts at the free throw line.

NDSU shot 53 percent in the game and made 9-of-20 attempts from three-point range. Seven different Bison players made at least one three-pointer. Guards
Carlin Dupree and
Khy Kabellis both recorded at least 10 points, four rebounds and four assists in the contest.

UND was up 19-15 midway through the first half, but NDSU rattled off a 7-0 run to go up 22-19 with a layup from
Dexter Werner, a three-pointer from Kabellis, and a layup by Jacobson. Miller knocked down a pair of threes, and freshman
Jared Samuelson drained a trey from the corner to push NDSU's lead to seven at 33-26.

The Fighting Hawks never cut the deficit under three points the rest of the way. When UND pulled within three at 42-39 with 16 minutes to play, the Bison answered with a jumper from Miller and a corner three-pointer from Dupree.
