FARGO, N.D. – The North Dakota State men's basketball team lost to the University of North Dakota, 74-56, on Wednesday evening at the Scheels Center.

Sophomore guard Geno Crandall scored 24 points to lead North Dakota. Attendance was 5,022.

Dexter Werner finished with a career-high 30 points on 12-of-13 shooting. Werner also grabbed 13 rebounds for his second straight double-double and the seventh of his career.

UND (5-2) raced out to a 14-point lead at 25-11 on a jumper by Crandall with 10:17 left in the first half.

The Bison trailed 33-23 at halftime. NDSU was able to cut the deficit to five at 39-34 on a bucket by Werner with 14 minutes left, but UND responded with a three-pointer from Crandall and a three-point play by Conner Avants.

NDSU (6-4) made just 1-of-20 three-point attempts in the game. Werner's previous career high in scoring was 22 points against Gonzaga in the 2015 NCAA Tournament.

NDSU plays next on Wednesday, Dec. 14, when UC Davis travels to the Scheels Center.
