Bison Compete at Home Thundering Herd Classic, Hit Road to Iowa State this Weekend

The North Dakota State men's track & field team will send nine athletes to compete at the Iowa State Classic in Ames, Iowa, this Friday and Saturday, as well as hosting the Thundering Herd Classic in Fargo on Saturday.
The Thundering Herd Classic will be held at the Shelly Ellig Indoor Track & Field Facility on the NDSU campus on Saturday, Feb. 13. The men's weight throw will open the action at 10 a.m., with running events scheduled to start at 12:30 p.m. with the 3000m.

NDSU athletes competing at the Iowa State Classic will include Landon Jochim (200m, 400m, 4x4), Matt Bedard (200m, 4x4), Aron Klos (400m, 4x4), Jonah Warwick (800m, 4x4), Matt Jennings (800m), Brant Gilbertson (mile), Brendan Skime (3000m), Derek Warner (5000m) and Camron Roehl (5000m).
At Iowa State, the 200m, 3000m and 5000m will run on Friday. The 400m, 800m, mile and 4x400m relay are scheduled for Saturday.
Entering this weekend, the NDSU men have two athletes ranked among the top 50 in the nation, and both are in the shot put. Junior Alex Renner is No. 15 on the national performance list, and sophomore Payton Otterdahl stands at No. 50. As a group, the Bison own the top six performers in The Summit League in the shot put.
Other Summit League leaders for NDSU include Colin Paarmann (triple jump), Conrad Schwarzkopf (weight throw) and Ryan Enerson (heptathlon).
The Bison are building toward the Summit League Indoor Championships to be held on Feb. 26-27 in Fort Wayne, Ind.
