FARGO, N.D. – IUPUI sophomore Danielle Lawrence hit a layup with 8.3 seconds to go in the fourth quarter to lift the Jaguars to a 64-63 win over the North Dakota State University women's basketball team in a Summit League women's basketball game played before 559 spectators on Friday, Feb. 12, inside the Bentson Bunker Fieldhouse.

The Bison (6-19, 1-11 Summit League) had a chance to win the game with two seconds to go, but Taylor Thunstedt's three was off target, sealing the victory for IUPUI (17-7, 8-3 Summit League).

Senior Marena Whittle tallied her team-high 11th double-double of the season with 21 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Bison. Thunstedt netted 13 points, and Emily Spier and Kennedy Childers both scored 12 to round out the NDSU players in double figures.

NDSU shot 42 percent from the floor but just 29 percent from three-point range for the game.

After posting a 23-16 advantage in rebounding in the first half, the Bison were outrebounded in the second half, 27-12, giving the Jaguars a 43-35 edge on the boards at the conclusion of the contest.

Lawrence scored 21 points to lead IUPUI in scoring, while Mikale Rogers tallied 11 rebounds to pace the Jags on the glass.

IUPUI shot just 36 percent from the field for the game, eight percent below its season average, but outscored the Bison in the paint, 42-32, and tallied 17 second chance points compared to just six for NDSU.

North Dakota State returns to action on Sunday, Feb. 14, when it hosts Omaha in the annual Edith Sanford Breast Foundation Pink Game at 2 p.m. inside the Bentson Bunker Fieldhouse.
