AUSTIN, Texas--Host University of Texas rallied with two runs in the top of the seventh inning to lift the Longhorns to a 3-2 win over North Dakota State University in the final game of the Texas Classic on Sunday, Feb. 14, before 691 spectators at McCombs Field.

NDSU (2-3) is scheduled to play Saint Mary's College (2-3) at 4:30 p.m. Central Time Friday, Feb. 19, in the Stanford University Nike Invitational.

North Dakota State carried a 2-1 lead into the bottom of the seventh inning. However, the Longhorns' Lindsey Stephens led off the inning parking an 0-2 pitch over the center field fence. Celina Felix followed with a triple to center and scored on Reagan Hathaway's sacrifice fly to left. Stephens finished with a pair of hits.

NDSU scored single runs over the first two innings to take a 2-0 lead. Katie Shoultz walked to start the top of the first, moved to second on Logan Moreland's sacrifice bunt and scored on Alyssa Reina's RBI single to right center. Shoultz went 2 for 3 as the Bison finished with seven hits.

Bre Beatty powered a double to right center to lead off the second for the Bison. Beatty moved to third on a passed ball and crossed the plate on Julia Luciano's single to left. Beatty, a sophomore from Las Vegas, Nev., connected for a team-high .545 average this weekend.

Texas (5-0) cut the deficit to 2-1 in the bottom of the third when Christina Bardwell was hit by pitch with the bases loaded.

North Dakota State's Jacquelyn Sertic (1-1) went the distance and picked up the loss. Sertic had a pair of strikeouts and walks.

The Longhorns' pitcher Tiarra Davis (3-0) gained momentum in the late innings and retired nine of the last 10 batters faced. Davis struck out two walked one and hit a batter.
