PINE BLUFF, Ark. – Sophomore Drew Fearing and senior Juan Gamez both collected two hits at the plate, and redshirt sophomore Logan Busch drove in three runs to help the North Dakota University baseball team claim a 7-4 win at Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Saturday, Feb. 20.

The victory gave the Bison a three-game series sweep of the Lions and improved NDSU to 3-0 overall for the first time since 2002.

Junior right-hander Dalton England (1-0) tossed three innings in relief and picked up his first win of the season, while sophomore left-hander Blake Stockert pitched a scoreless ninth inning to tally his first save of 2016.

The Bison plated three runs in the top of the second inning to gain an early 3-0 advantage. Gamez was hit by a pitch to lead-off the frame, before Jayse McLean and Fearing both drew one-out walks to load the bases. Busch stepped to the plate and belted a triple to left field, clearing the bases.

Arkansas-Pine Bluff (0-3) answered with three runs in the bottom of the fourth, tying the contest at three.

NDSU regained the lead in the top of the fifth after pinch-hitter Taylor Sanders singled, but the Lions got a run in the bottom-half of the inning to tie the contest again.

The Bison took the lead for good with two runs in the top of the sixth. Fearing began the inning with a single to centerfield before stealing second and third and scoring on Brayden Resch's fly-ball to left field. Ben Petersen, who reached base via a walk, provided the second run of the inning for NDSU, crossing home plate on a UAPB error.

McLean gave the Bison an insurance run in the seventh inning when he hit a RBI single to right field, scoring Gamez.

Jaquee Moore went compiled three hits to lead Arkansas-Pine Bluff in the batter's box, while pitcher C.J. Lewington took the loss after surrendering one earned run on two hits in 1.1 innings.

North Dakota State is scheduled to travel to Beaumont, Texas, Feb. 26-28 for a four-game series at Lamar University.
