FARGO, N.D. – The North Dakota State men's basketball team scored the first 11 points of the game and never looked back, earning a 62-46 victory over first-place IPFW on Saturday afternoon in Summit League action.
 
NDSU (16-8, 6-4 Summit League) took an 11-0 lead less than five minutes into the game, getting two three-pointers from Malik Clements and one from A.J. Jacobson in the opening run.
 
The Bison never trailed in the game. NDSU led 37-25 at halftime. The Mastodons rallied to cut the deficit to 39-34 with 14 minutes remaining but never got any closer.
 
IPFW (19-7, 8-3 Summit) was led by 18 points from senior guard Michael Calder. IPFW's 46 points and 28.1-percent shooting were both season lows for the Mastodons, as well as for all NDSU opponents this year.
 
Jacobson scored a season-high 22 points and tied his career-best with five three-pointers. He played all 40 minutes for the second straight game.
 
The Bison limited IPFW senior guard Max Landis to a season-low nine points on 2-of-10 shooting – two days after he scored 44 points and made 11 three-pointers at South Dakota.  Landis had been averaging 26 points over the last seven games.
 
NDSU senior Kory Brown scored 10 points, and junior forward Dexter Werner finished with nine points and nine rebounds. Sophomore Malik Clements made the start and scored eight points in the first half in place of an injured Paul Miller.
 
Junior guard Carlin Dupree returned to action for the first time since Jan. 9, playing 14 minutes in the second half. He finished with four rebounds, three assists, two points, one steal and no turnovers.
 
IPFW was ranked 15th in this week's College Insider Mid-Major Poll. The Bison improved to 10-1 at home this season.
 
NDSU will go on the road for two games next week, playing at South Dakota on Feb. 11 and at Omaha on Feb. 13.
