Enerson Leads Bison Men on Day One of California Invitational Decathlon

AZUSA, Calif. – Redshirt freshman Ryan Enerson leads the group of North Dakota State decathletes who opened competition at the California Invitational decathlon on Wednesday. The Grand Forks, N.D., native scored 3,497 points on the first day to stand in fourth place in the 'B' section.
NDSU senior Brock Larson is in ninth place with 3,284 points, sophomore Daniel Asa is 10th with 3,175 points, and redshirt freshman Matt Moberg is currently 11th with 3,108. Bison junior Grant Mjelstad rounds out the NDSU entries with 2,954 points in 15th place.
Enerson is on a similar pace to his first decathlon of the season when he had 3,511 points through five events at UC Riverside on Mar. 24.
Enerson opened the day with a time of 11.56 seconds in the 100m dash and followed up with a mark of 20-11.75 (6.39m) in the long jump. He threw 40-11.50 (12.48m) in the shot put, cleared 6-03.50 (1.92m) in the high jump, and capped the day by running a personal-best 52.17 in the 400m dash.
Larson ran 51.11 in the decathlon 400m dash to lead the Bison men in that event. Moberg posted marks of 21-08.75 (6.62m) in the long jump and 6-04.75 (1.95m) in the high jump.
The Bison will continue competition in southern California over the next three days, with Thursday featuring the first day of the Mt. SAC Relays, the Pacific Coast Intercollegiate meet, and the conclusion of the California Invitational Multi-Events.
