NDSU Baseball Drops Summit League Twin Bill at Oral Roberts Sunday

TULSA, Okla. – The North Dakota State University baseball team dropped a Summit League doubleheader at Oral Roberts on Sunday, April 3, in front of 1,098 spectators at J.L. Johnson Stadium in Tulsa, Okla., 6-3 and 8-6.

With the pair of losses, the Bison fall to 11-13 overall and 2-7 in Summit League action, while the Golden Eagles move to 17-10 on the season and 7-2 in league play.

Senior designated hitter Taylor Sanders went 1-for-4 at the plate with one RBI and a double to lead NDSU in game one.

Junior right-handed pitcher Reed Pfannenstein (2-1) suffered the loss on the mound in the first contest after allowing four runs, three earned, on eight hits in 5 1/3 innings with one strikeout and four walks.  

First baseman Brent Williams led Oral Roberts at the plate, going 2-of-4 with a home run, three RBIs and two runs scored, while third baseman Chase Stafford doubled and drove in a trio of runs.

ORU reliever Josh McMinn (3-1) posted the win in game one after allowing no runs or hits while striking out four and walking one in five innings.

Sophomore Brayden Resch tallied two doubles, freshman Alec Abercrombie batted in a pair of runs, and Sanders hit his first home run of the season to lead the Bison in game two.

Junior relief pitcher Luke Lind (3-2) took the loss for North Dakota State after giving up four runs, three earned, on no hits with four walks in 2/3 of an inning.

Left fielder Michael Hungate went 2-of-5 in the batter's box and compiled three RBIs to pace the Golden Eagles in the second contest, while reliever Grant Glaze (1-0) earned the win after going 3 1/3 innings and allowing no earned runs on three hits with three strikeouts.

North Dakota State is scheduled to travel to Minneapolis to take on the Minnesota Golden Gophers on Tuesday, April 5, at 3 p.m.
