FARGO, N.D.--Jacquelyn Sertic and Kaitlyn "KK" Leddy both tossed one-hit shutouts as North Dakota State University blanked IPFW 8-0 twice in a Summit League softball doubleheader on a cold and windy Saturday, April 9, before 112 spectators at the Ellig Sports Complex. The Bison have won 11 of their last 13 and five in a row.

NDSU (23-12, 5-0 SL) and IPFW (10-28, 1-7 SL) close out the three-game series at 11 a.m. Sunday, April 10.

North Dakota State jumped out to an early 7-0 lead after two innings in the opener and Alyssa Reina had the key hit in both innings. Reina lined a single down the left field line to score Logan Moreland with two outs in the first.

In the second with the bases loaded, Moreland was hit by pitch and Cheyenne Garcia walked to push across runs to extend the lead to 3-0. Reina then took a 3-1 pitch and drilled a grand slam home run over the left field fence with the wind blowing in from center. Reina finished 2-for-3 with five RBI as the Bison collected four hits overall.

NDSU took advantage of five walks, two hit batters and an error. Katie Shoultz closed out the scoring in the bottom of the third. Shoultz singled with two outs, stole second, advanced to third base on a wild pitch and scored on an error.

Sertic (16-5) had a no-hit bid dashed with two outs in top of the fifth when Caitlyn DeLong singled to center. She struck out eight and walked two in picking up her fourth shutout this season. Demitra Burns (5-8) recorded the loss for the Mastodons. Burns struck out three and walked five.

North Dakota State jumped to an early 4-0 lead in the first inning of game two. Garcia and Moreland pulled off a double steal, Garcia scored on a wild pitch, while Julia Luciano and Maritza Lopez-Portillo each delivered run scoring singles.

Moreland and Garcia both came through with RBI singles to extend the lead to 6-0 in the second inning. In the third, Jenna Isbel scored on a wild pitch, while Moreland closed out the scoring with a sacrifice fly to knock in Shoultz. Shoultz finished 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs scored. Moreland went 1-for-2 with two RBI. Garcia also came up with three steals as the Bison finished with 11 stolen bases overall.
