FARGO, N.D. – South Dakota senior Yvon Minogue became The Summit League's all-time hits leader Wednesday afternoon in the Coyotes' 6-4 victory over South Dakota State in the first round of The Summit League Championship at the Ellig Sports Complex. Minogue drove in all six of USD's runs off a tournament-record three home runs.
Starting pitcher Madison Frain held the Jackrabbits scoreless in the seventh to preserve the victory. The Coyotes (15-36) advance to play top-seeded North Dakota State in the four-team, double-elimination tournament Thursday. South Dakota State (23-34) ends its season vs. South Dakota for the second straight season.
Minogue crushed a solo homer in third inning for her 266th career base hit, passing Oakland's Ericka Burns for the most hits in Summit League history. In her next at-bat, she hit a two-run shot over the left field fence to cut SDSU's lead to 4-3. Still trailing in the bottom of the sixth, Minogue stepped to the plate with two on and blasted her third home run of the ballgame, giving South Dakota a 6-4 lead.
South Dakota State took an early 2-0 when Lyndsey Crist sent a ball over the left-field fence in the top of the first inning. The Jacks extended their lead to 4-1 with a two-run shot from Devan Larsen in fourth inning before Minogue was able to give USD the lead for good.
Turning Point
Trailing 4-3 in the bottom of the sixth, Minogue stepped to the plate with two on and blasted her third home run of the ballgame, giving South Dakota its first lead at 6-4. The Coyotes held SDSU scoreless in the seventh to advance to the second round of The Summit League tournament.

- All 10 runs in the ballgame were scored via the home run – six runs off three home runs for South Dakota, four runs off two homers for SDSU.
- USD's Madison Frain tossed her 13th complete game of the season, collecting her 12th win of the year and struck out six Jackrabbits.

- Yvon Minogue of South Dakota became the league's career hits leader when she hit a solo home run in the bottom of the third.
- Minogue would hit three homers on the day, becoming the first player in Summit League tournament history to hit three home runs in one game. She also tied the single-game RBI record with six. It was her first career multi-home run game and the first three-home run game in the league this season.
- South Dakota is now 3-0 vs. SDSU in the league's postseason tournament. South Dakota State is now 1-7 all-time in The Summit League Championship while USD is 4-6.
- The Coyotes' win sets up a rematch of last season's championship game with North Dakota State. NDSU won that matchup and took both games from USD earlier this season.

FARGO, N.D. – IUPUI senior pitcher Brooke Boetjer tossed a complete game and Taylor Chitwood drove in two runs to help the Jaguars defeat third-seeded Western Illinois 3-2 in the first round of The Summit League Championship Wednesday evening at the Ellig Sports Complex.
Boetjer picked up her 10th win and 14th complete game of the year. She struck out six Leatherneck batters while allowing only six hits and at one point retired eight straight WIU hitters.
IUPUI (18-33) advances to play No. 2 Omaha Thursday in a four-team, double-elimination tournament while Western Illinois' season ends with a record of 16-32.
Chitwood opened the scoring in the top of the third inning with a sacrifice fly to center, scoring Ali Mosier. The senior would add an RBI double in the fifth inning to give IUPUI a 2-0 lead.
The Jaguar lead was 3-0 in the bottom of the sixth when Kelsey Marlow was finally able to get WIU on the scoreboard with a solo home run. After relief pitcher Kacyee Hart laced an RBI single up the right field line, the lead was cut to 3-2 with runners on the corners and only one out.
Taylor Messer hit a fly ball to right field and it looked as if the Leathernecks were going to tie the game on a sacrifice fly until Alyssa Neff, who had just entered the game as a substitute, threw out Nina Maggio at home, ending Western Illinois' threat.
Western Illinois were able to get two runners aboard in the bottom of the seventh inning, but Boetjer was worked out of trouble to preserve the Jaguars' 3-2 victory.
Turning Point
In the bottom of the sixth inning, Taylor Messer hit a fly ball to right field and it looked as if the Leathernecks were going to tie the game on a sacrifice fly until Alyssa Neff, who had just entered the game as a substitute, threw out Nina Maggio at home, ending Western Illinois' threat. IUPUI would hold on to for the 3-2 victory.

- The Jaguars were just 4-for-17 with runners in scoring position while WIU was only 2-for-9. The teams combined to leave 17 runners on base and were 1-for-14 with two outs.
