FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The North Dakota State University baseball team fell at IPFW on Sunday, May 15, 2-1, in the series finale of a three-game Summit League series at Mastodon Field.
With the loss, NDSU falls to 27-24 overall and 10-17 in Summit League action, while IPFW improves to 27-24 on the season and 11-16 in league play.
Junior
Ben Petersen went 3-for-4 with two triples and a run scored to lead the Bison. It was the ninth time in NDSU program history a player has hit two triples in a game, and the first since 2013, when Blake Turbak hit two against Northern State.
Freshman right-hander
Jordan Harms (1-3) suffered the loss on the mound after giving up two earned runs on five hits in six innings with six strikeouts and four walks.
Greg Kaiser went 2-for-4 with a double to pace the Mastodons in the batter's box, while left-handed pitcher Brandon Pease (3-2) earned the win after surrendering one earned run on four hits with five strikeouts and two walks in six innings pitched.
North Dakota State is scheduled to host South Dakota State in the first game of a three-game Summit League series on Thursday, May 19, at 6:30 p.m. at Newman Outdoor Field.
