FARGO, N.D. – The North Dakota State University baseball team scored four runs in the seventh inning to rally and claim a 4-1 victory over the South Dakota State University Jackrabbits in the second game of a three-game Summit League series on Friday, May 20, in front of 276 spectators at Newman Outdoor Field.

With the win, NDSU improves to 29-24 overall and 12-17 in Summit League play, while SDSU falls to 20-33 and 12-17 in league action.

Senior Juan Gamez tallied the game-tying RBI double, and redshirt sophomore Logan Busch hit the go-ahead two-run single to lead North Dakota State. Senior Taylor Sanders and sophomore Brayden Resch both recorded two hits.

Left-handed reliever Chris Choles (4-0) earned the win on the mound for the Bison after allowing one earned run on four hits in three innings with a walk. NDSU starting pitcher Jordan Harms tossed six scoreless innings and tallied six strikeouts and two walks while only allowing three hits.

The Jackrabbits broke a scoreless tie with a run in the top of the seventh inning, but the Bison responded with four runs in the bottom-half of the frame to gain a 4-1 advantage. Gamez plated the game-tying run on an RBI double to left field, before Busch smacked a two-RBI single through the right side, plating two runs to give the Bison the lead, 3-1. Ben Petersen drove in the fourth and final run of the inning on an RBI single up the middle.

Second baseman Tony Kjolsing went 2-for-4 at the plate and recorded an RBI to pace the Jackrabbits.

Left-hander Landon Busch (7-4) suffered the loss on the mound for SDSU after surrendering four earned runs on seven hits in 6 1/3 innings with four strikeouts and one walk.

The Bison and Jackrabbits are scheduled to face-off in the series finale on Saturday, May 21, at 1 p.m. at Newman Outdoor Field. The winner of the game will advance to The Summit League Baseball Championship in Tulsa, Okla., May 25-28.
