Jacquelyn Sertic tossed a two-hit shutout and
KK Leddy spun a five-hitter as North Dakota State University defeated Omaha 4-0 and 9-1 to take both ends of a Summit League softball doubleheader on Friday, May 6, before 237 spectators at the Ellig Sports Complex. NDSU won its fifth straight regular season title and sixth overall to clinch the No. 1 seed in the league tournament to played in Fargo on May 11-14. The Bison extended their Summit League regular season win streak to 26 games.
North Dakota State (34-13, 16-0 Summit League) and Omaha (29-26, 12-4 SL) are scheduled to close out the three-game series at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 7, on Senior Day. NDSU will honor five seniors -- center fielder

Sertic, a sophomore right-hander from Sparks, Nev., allowed just a lead-off to Kourtney Pock single in the second and Kelly Pattison two-out double in the fifth to notch her second straight shutout and sixth overall on the season. Sertic needed only 81 pitches over seven inning, striking out seven and walking one. She improved to 22-6 overall.
Moreland put the Bison ahead with one out in the bottom of the third when she lined a 2-1 pitch over the right center field fence to score
Katie Shoultz. It was Moreland's team-leading 12th home run of the season.
NDSU tacked on a pair of runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to increase the lead to 4-0. Shoultz slapped an infield single, Moreland reached on the first of two UNO errors. Garcia dropped a bunt single and Shoultz scored on a throwing error. Garcia stole second and scored on
Zoe Stavrou's RBI single to center. Shoultz finished with a pair of base hits.
Laura Roecker (16-12) picked up the loss for the Mavericks. Roecker scattered four hits, struck out two and walked two.
North Dakota State broke open a 1-1 deadlock with seven runs over the third and fourth innings to pull away from Omaha in the second game. Lopez-Portillo hit a towering solo home run to left in the bottom of the second inning, while the Mavericks tied the game in the top of third on Campbell Ditto's RBI single.
The Bison sent nine batters to the plate in the third and fourth inning.
Bre Beatty and Garcia each delivered RBI singles, while
Zoe Stavrou drew a bases-loaded walk in the third to put NDSU ahead 4-1.
Garcia picked up her second RBI in as many innings to start things in the bottom of the fourth. Stifter was hit by pitch with the bases-loaded to push across another run, while Isbel's infield chopper deflected off the pitcher's glove and into shallow left to send a pair of baserunners home. Stifter was hit by pitch for the 15th time this season to become the program's all-time leader with 25 to break the previous record of 24 set by Lynnae Foshag (2004-07).
Stifter closed out the scoring and ended the game in the sixth inning with a single to left center to drive in pinch-runner
Joei Samper. Moreland, Garcia, Beatty, Stifter and Isbel each had two hits as the Bison finished with 14 overall. Moreland extended her hitting streak to 22 games.
Leddy (11-7) won her fifth straight outing for NDSU. She struck out six and walked one. Abbie Clanton (11-11) recorded the loss. Clanton struck out two and walked four. Sydney Hames and Pattison each had two hits for Omaha.
